Onion masala mathri

After making methi masala mathri , I was tempted to try mathris with onions, green chillies and fresh coriander leaves.
I am visiting my sister these days and its a bliss to have hot ginger tea with these mathris and catching up with all the news of family and friends. Its so good to be with your sisters, remembering old days :)
I am having them with red chilli pickle, yummm.....

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour or maida
1/2 cup semolina or sooji
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp ghee/butter
1/2 tsp bishop's weed or ajwain
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin seed powder
1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp chopped green chillies
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
5-6 black peppercorns, cracked
1 medium sized onion,  finely chopped

Method:
Sieve all purpose flour or maida, add semolina.
Add cracked peppercorns, ajwain, coriander powder, cumin seed powder, red chilli powder.

Add chopped green chillies, coriander leaves and thoroughly mix ghee or oil.
Do not add salt at this stage.

Finely chop a medium sized onion. Put it in a bowl and add some salt.
Mix and keep it aside for 15 minutes.

Mix chopped onion along with water it leaves to the flour, check salt and knead into a stiff dough.
Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.

Either make small roundels of the dough and roll into small discs or follow the steps from methi masala mathri where I make a log, cut them into pieces.

Roll.....,

fry on medium heat till light brown.

Drain on an absorbant paper.

Enjoy .....

My Notes:
Onion leaves water on adding salt so,  if salt is added to the flour earlier there would be excess of salt.
Do not roll the mathris very thin.
You can add pepper powder but, cracked peppercorns give a very good flavor.

Painting wine bottles

We had a gathering one day and while clearing, I saw the number of wine bottles on the table. Usually, I throw them away but this time no, I need to do something about them.  I searched the net for possible ideas.  Tried cutting off the wine bottle using alcohol dipped in string but it was a flop for me :(
Then, I saw painted wine bottles and decided to give them a try. Nothing lost even if I don't succeed. So, began my journey of painting the wine bottles. I had painted glass earlier but bottles? No, I had never tried. The round surface of bottle makes it a little tricky to paint, the brush seemed to slip away. After two three mishaps and wiping off the surface again and again, I managed to create something.   I even asked my friend to donate his empty wine bottles so I could practice more. Thanks Vijay for the carton of bottles.
I  paint glass ware with enamel paints and leave them to dry for at least 3 weeks. The only thing I need to be careful of after the final art work is not to use a harsh abrasive pad while washing them.

Oil bottles on my sister's kitchen counter
There are various ways you can use these bottles.  Put in your cooking oil with a spout, use it as a vase, put in your washing up liquid with a dispenser.

sprinkled some sparkle

So, next time you see these glass bottles, think twice before throwing them away.
