Flowers on glass and ceramic

A few strokes of paint brings life and color on to a rather dull boring glass ware.

Aah, do the jars look familiar? They are the small candle jars 😊, when finished, I use them as spice jars.

So many things to paint on!

Many a times I get into a painting momentum and start looking around my house. There are so many things a dab of paint can do to your boring and life less things.

I bought jute slippers which were dull so I decided to add some color.

The jute bags were good but looked quite plain so I painted few flowers

I had plenty of A4 sheets after I was over with a project. I made few tote bags adding contrasting colors and using decorative scissors.

The addition of few flowers to the bags made them all the more beautiful.

Pocket diaries look beautiful with flowers painted. On my first trial, I painted them outside. They looked fine but I realised that the paint wiped off after frequent use. So, this time I painted on the inside of the transparent cover. This made a protective cover for the flowers.

Dainty bags became a wine bottle holder and also served as a pot pouri bag!

How could I have forgotton my terracotta pots? I bought few pots and painted some flowers to give some color.

Painted soaps

I became quite busy past few days and had ignored my blog. I come with a bang today. My son got some small soaps for me and I thought of painting them. They become pretty decorative pieces and can also be used.

I also tried my hand on decoupage' along with painting them. I was not happy with decoupage', need to work more on it.

If you plan to use them for decorative purposes then you may use any soap but if you need for personal purposes then I would recommend using a good quality soap or a soap bar which you use as routinely.

Let me go step by step.
The first step involves scraping the soap to remove the imprint of the makers name.
I like to use the simple peeler to remove the name. I tried mandolin but it shaves the soap and does not give a smooth surface.
More work needs to be done, continue scraping
In case a soap is chipped from sides, smoothen that as well.
I need to think of how to use this soap powder

Sand paper the soap if the surface is uneven and ridges are visible.

Once the soaps are ready, paint them. Remember to let the paint dry properly before you seal the surface.
In my haste I brushed the sealer while the paint was still wet and, see, the colors all washed away.

Apply two or three coats of sealer.

Recycling

I had posted this post earlier in which I had also put painting on dvds and cds. I have split this post in two now.
I love scented candles so bought quite a few for myself.  But once, the wax got finished, I cleaned the jars and thought of recycling them.  But they looked very plain to me.  I painted some and have made into spice jars. One of them contains the hot and spicy red chili sauce without which I find my food very bland :)

I  paint glass ware with enamel paints and leave them to dry for at least 3 weeks. The only thing I need to be careful of, is not to use a harsh abrasive pad while washing them.

With candle jars, it was no problem. I got few plain ones and painted them.  Left them to dry for sometime.  The burning wick "baked" them.  Once the wax in the jar finished, I washed them properly and re-cycle them.

Time to paint

I am always on look out for something to paint on.  In fact, my friend K the other day joked about it and said, we are just waiting to see your husband painted !!!
I saw these wooden cutting boards in supermarket one day.  Why not paint on the reverse side?  I had something like this in Russia but the their painting is far more superior to mine which they superbly do.
I got two pieces home and painted on the wrong side, sealed the paint with acrylic sealer and now one hangs on my kitchen.

The above pattern, I learnt from di Marzia Di Somma's video on you tube, she is too good.
My sister visited us some time back and got a box of these LED candles.  Why not paint on them? she said so I sat with brushes and paints.  The outcome was far more than I had expected. They looked specially beautiful when they were switched on.
The above picture didn't come out well.  I used my mobile phone camera :(

My painting endeavors continue and you would be seeing more of them.
