Japanese Kimono style napkin folding

There are many small things which intrigue me. Visiting a Japanese restaurant at Conrad Bangkok once, I was fascinated by the style of napkin folding. I opened and re-did it.

There is just one thing you need for this and that is a well starched full sized cotton napkin.

Fold the napkin joining ends to make a triangle.

Fold the upper end in such a way that it makes a curve.

With the same side towards yourself. bring the two corners slightly overlapping each other.

Flip the side and bring the two corners inside.

Bring the lower part of the napkin and tuck it inside the "collar".

Reverse the side and put it on a plate!

  1. You make it look so simple! I am so impressed that you figured out how to fold it back to the original shape just by following the folds. :)
